ENG 4324 Champions for Change

Introduction to the course

In this course, you will embark on a journey towards changing something that is important to you. Working in teams, you will identify a real-world problem, develop a solution and work out how to make it happen.
Along the way, you will develop your powers of persuasion, negotiation and collaboration. You will learn how to present your ideas, convince different audiences, listen to other points of view, and find ways to work together when you don’t all agree.
You will also look at the choices you make when communicating: Why did you choose this argument for this audience? Why use statistics here and emotional language there? How do you establish credibility? What do you want your audience to do?
From identifying a problem to putting a solution in place, this course will give you the opportunity to use English to work with others, communicate your ideas and become a champion for change.
