Introduction

Until quite recently, the world was a fairly predictable place: homes heated by oil or gas, petrol-powered commuting, more frequent aviation at ever-lower prices, global free speech and supply chains standardising societies and lifestyles across the planet. But suddenly everything changed - all we now know is that everything is in flux, our models are being challenged or have been revealed to be unsustainable. What are the dangers, and what choices do we have?

This course pushes learners to better understand the uncertain times we are living in.
With an emphasis on autonomy, learners will select themes to investigate and present their findings/conclusions to the class. These findings will form the basis of regular discussion/challenge/questioning/development of the analysis.

At the end of the course, learners should have enriched their vocabulary, improved their writing and presenting skills, and feel more at ease discussing complex issues which divide opinions. They may even feel they are beginning to understand where on earth we are all heading!
