Introduction to the module
Introduction (EN):
This course provides students with the fundamental tools and techniques required to conduct rigorous academic and professional research. It covers the entire research process, from defining a research question and reviewing literature to selecting appropriate qualitative or quantitative methods and analyzing data. Students will also explore the ethical considerations and integrity standards inherent in research design and execution.
Learning objectives/Intended learning outcomes
- 2.2 - Drive creativity by mobilising ideation techniques and promoting interdisciplinarity and collaborative work to provide innovative solutions to complex issues in multicultural and international contexts.
- 2.3 - Conduct a reflective and detached analysis that takes into account the challenges, issues and complexity of a request or situation in order to propose appropriate and/or innovative solutions in line with regulatory developments.
- 4.1 - Understand and apply complex project management methods in order to propose innovative strategic approaches that integrate the societal, digital, energy and/or environmental challenges that organisations may face.
- 4.2 - Lead a complex project with responsibility, with the aim of supporting the transformation of organisations (design, management, team coordination, implementation and management, control, dissemination), by mobilising multidisciplinary skills and bri

Pedagogical methods
The course is based on a progressive learning approach that balances theoretical foundations with hands-on practice. It includes interactive lectures on research design and epistemology, followed by practical workshops where students apply qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. Students will also engage in peer-reviewing sessions and develop a structured research proposal, allowing them to apply the methodologies discussed to a specific topic of interest.
Evaluation and grading system and catch up exams
Group Research Proposal (40%): A collaborative document where students define a research question, conduct a brief literature review, and justify their chosen methodology.
Individual MCQ (10%): A mid-term quiz focusing on key concepts of epistemology and research design.
Final Individual Report (50%): A written assignment where the student analyzes a dataset or critiques a research paper using the tools learned in class (no MCQ).
Retake (Rattrapage): An individual written exam or a revised research paper covering the entire syllabus.
Module Policies
