Pedagogical methods

Pedagogical materials (non-contractual):
Learners will be divided into groups according to their CEFR level. By the end of the course, all students should be familiar with and be able to complete the following tasks (in accordance with their CEFR level).
• Apply and interview effectively for a professional position
• Understand and take effective notes during company presentations
• Complete regular ‘daily’ tasks relevant to a professional context (e.g. emails)
• Learn and mobilise a large volume of general and specialist vocabulary
• Research and write an extended professional report on the state-of-the-art in their respective field
• Produce a high-quality professional presentation to an expert and/or non-expert audience.
• Undertake an appraisal of their abilities and performance
• Organise and manage their own time and resources to achieve stated aims

Levels A1-B1: In addition to working on the tasks listed above, students will have specific lessons targeted on increasing their CEFR level with an emphasis on the acquisition of vocabulary. Learners will be given a vocabulary booklet from which they will be expected to learn and revise key elements of vocabulary (approximately 40 items / week)

Levels B2-C2: In addition to classroom activities, the course will include project-based activities on a business theme.

Evaluation and grading system and catch up exams

All Grading will be on a scale of 0 to 20, unless otherwise stated.

CF
The CF makes up 1/3 of the final grade for the module (UV/UE).

CC

The CC makes up 2/3 of the final grade for the module (UV/UE). This CC grade is made up of equal parts Class Participation and ‘CC*’ Grade (Selected Classroom assignments, as detailed by the teacher).

Class Participation Grade: Students will be assessed on their participation in class, according to the criteria listed in ‘course expectations’.

In case of absence, it is the responsibility of the student to make up for any missed work in order to avoid such absences negatively affecting final grades.

CEFR Grade (A1-C2)
Students will be continuously assessed as to their language level relative to CEFR criteria.
There is NO DIRECT RELATION between a student’s CC*/CF/PP and their CEFR level.

Une absence non justifiée au CF1 par le service de scolarité centrale entraîne la note 0/20.
En cas d’échec (note finale inférieure à 10) au CF1, un Contrôle Final 2 (CF2) est organisé.

A LSH, la note de CF2 ne remplace QUE la note du CF1 et, lorsque votre absence au CF1 n'est pas justifiée par la scolarité centrale de votre école, alors votre note d'UV/UE finale (CC+CF2) est plafonnée à 13/20 maximum.
