Introduction to the module

Digital Intelligence Week (DIW) is a key educational and career-focused event at IMT-BS dedicated to the challenges of responsible and sustainable digital intelligence.
It offers M2-level students an immersive ‘learning by doing’ experience, based on tackling real-world problems set by partner companies.
Working in multidisciplinary teams, students draw on the skills acquired during their academic studies to analyse a business challenge, explore different potential solutions and develop an operational proposal. They are supported throughout the week by academic staff and, where necessary, by company representatives.
The DIW also aims to strengthen the cross-disciplinary skills essential in a changing professional environment: collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, project management, stress management, the production of high-stakes deliverables, and professional communication in English.

Pedagogical methods

Digital Intelligence Week is primarily based on an active, experiential and career-focused approach to learning.
Learning by doing: Students work on real-world case studies provided by partner organisations and are required to produce a practical solution to a professional challenge.
Multidisciplinary teamwork: Teams bring together students from different degree programmes to encourage:
_ the pooling of expertise;
_ complementary skills;
_ cooperation;
_ the exchange of different perspectives;
_ peer learning.
Coaching and support: Each group receives support from academic staff and coaches throughout the week. The coaches monitor the teams’ progress, help them structure their approach and check daily that objectives are being met.
Discussions with company representatives may also be organised where necessary to address the topic.
Real-world professional scenario: The final presentation takes the form of a pitch in English to a mixed panel, enabling students to experience the demands of a professional presentation and to defend their choices in front of representatives from the business world.
Project management under time pressure: Students must work together to organise their approach, manage priorities and produce a proposal within a short timeframe, to a professional standard.

*************
Learning by doing :
_ le croisement des expertises ;
_ la complémentarité des compétences ;
_ la coopération ;
_ la confrontation des points de vue ;

Evaluation and grading system and catch up exams

The assessment focuses on the students’ ability to propose a relevant solution to the company’s challenge by drawing on the skills acquired during their academic studies, as well as the cross-disciplinary skills developed during the week.
The criteria set out in the terms of reference include, in particular:
_ Relevance of the proposed solution;
_ Suitability of the solution to the company’s challenge;
_ Application of skills acquired during the academic programme;
_ Teamwork;
_ Creativity;
_ Critical thinking;
_ Project management;
_ Stress management;
_ Quality of deliverables;
_ Professional presentation;
_ Communication in English.
The judging panel comprises representatives from partner companies and organisations, as well as lecturers from IMT-BS.

The framework provides for an assessment based on:
_ a presentation/pitch to the company and the teachers/panel;
_ a report detailing the topic covered, the avenues explored and the final proposal, including its practical implementation, with an appendix setting out the resources used to carry out the work.

Catch-up assessment: this takes the form of a report analysing the teams’ proposals (from a different working group) in light of the company’s requirements
