Contenu

The purpose of this course is to discover modern day concerns and problem solving in a global context. Content is varied, from new technologies to human rights issues. An interactive course with students working in teams to research, analyze and present findings. Activities include talk shows, debates, discussions, presentations, with lots of opportunity for students to interact. These alternate with viewing/listening, reading and writing activities.

Attentes du cours

This is a highly interactive course, with strong emphasis on spoken English. Homework assignments include reading, writing and research in preparation for the following lessons. Students work individually and in teams. Each team will work on a project which deals with modern dilemmas, the findings and conclusion of which will be presented to the class (mega presentation). PS all assignments are graded.

Evaluation

Grading is on a scale of 0 to 20.
Presence, participation in class, homework assignments: 60 %( CC)
Final exam: 40 %( CF)
