Course will deal with current international issues concerning primarily international trade and politics. Topics will include Brexit, Franco-German hegemony in the European Union, China's new Silk Road initiative, and Chinese-American trade conflicts, Trump and possible impeachment proceedings, and American trade predominance in Latin America among other topics. Course content will be based on articles dealing with the ongoing developments in these issues. Students will be expected to read the material before each class to participate in debates and discussions. Course marking will be based on 5 elements: 2 essays, a presentation and two other assignments.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
• Develop & make presentations
• Write structured compositions
• Conduct genuine & serious research
Teachers will alternately introduce techniques and supervise the development of the student’s writing and presenting skills in parallel with a study of different topics of the teacher's predilection drawn from fields such as culture, management, communication, and media.
Validating the tandem course will add 2 bonus points in the continuous assesment grade of the corresponding language course.

The classroom experience will focus on achieving high-level written and oral communication. To achieve this goal, students will work through a rigorous drafting & editing process both of their written work & oral presentations. Specific coaching will be provided to help students meet the goals they set themselves during the semester.
