CGFE ENG 5101
3ème Année Management,3ème Année Télécom
Written and oral communication are vital, key skills in the working world; professional communication must be clear, precise, unambiguous and efficient.
AOPC stands for "Assessment of Profesionnal Compentences" in English. It resets the focus on communication skills which are not validated by the external exam. Many of these skills have been presented and practiced in other courses.
To become able to communicate more clearly, precisely, unambiguously, efficiently in a professional register in three contexts: recruitment, oral presentation and meetings.
This “course” aims to develop professional written and oral communicative competence by making students become aware of, reflect on and develop their communicative competence and to identify strong points and points to improve on.
Prepare oral communication before class (flipped classroom) to be ready to perform in class (active learning).
Listen and evaluate peers’ performance and communication according to pre-established evaluation criteria and justify one’s own performance (collaborative/social learning).
Take into account peer feedback and improve written and oral communication by redoing a text (oral at CF2; written texts can be resubmitted to class teacher before the CF2 date).
0 Text to be redone
1 Insufficient – inappropriate (text to be redone) = A2
2 Weak (text to be redone = B1
3 Passable (text can be redone) = B2
4 Good = C1
5 Excellent = C2
A reworked piece of communication is re-evaluated and marked; the new mark replaces the old.
The final grade out of 20 is calculated as follows: the total of all seven activities and, if applicable, the piece(s) of technical communication.
1point est enlevé sur la note du contrôle continue pour chaque absence non justifiée.
Flipped classroom: Students prepare oral texts before class with supplied resources.
Individual, action learning: Students come to three presential sessions in small groups to perform oral communication.
Collaborative/social learning: Peers and instructor evaluate oral performances according to pre-established evaluation criteria. Points to improve on and useful resources are suggested.
