Introduction au module
The widespread use of digital technology is reshaping the economic landscape as radically as electricity and railways transformed 19th-century industry. Digital technologies have become the backbone of every organization. To leverage them effectively, Information Systems (IS) are implemented to support an organization's operational and strategic goals. This course introduces students core concepts of information systems management and allows them to understand the issues involved in digital transformation of organizations.

Objectifs d'apprentissage du cours
Describe the fundamental concepts of digital technology and Information Systems and their role in contemporary organizations.
Identify and explain the major technological trends driving digital adoption and their impact on individuals, organizations and society.
Distinguish between Information Systems and Information Technology and analyze the strategic value of Information Systems for organizations.
At the end of the course B2, the students will be able to:
Analyze how digital technologies disrupt industries, markets, business models and competitive dynamics.
Evaluate the strategic relevance of digital technologies, platforms, data and ecosystems in competing in the digital age.
Explain the foundations of digital transformation and evaluate the organizational and managerial challenges associated with transformation.
Assess the role of organizational capabilities, culture, leadership, strategy and governance in successful digital transformation

Course Structure and Learning Objectives
Session 1 – Digital Technology and Its Impact
Learning objective: Students will be able to understand key digital technologies, their evolution, their impact on individuals, organizations and society, and the long-term trends driving their adoption.
Session 2 – Introduction to Information Systems
Learning objective: Students will be able to understand the concept of Information Systems, distinguish IS from IT, and identify the main actors involved in the IS profession.
Session 3 – Digital Disruption
Learning objective: Students will be able to understand how digital technologies disrupt industries, organizations, markets and traditional business models.
Session 4 – Competing in the Digital Age
Learning objective: Students will be able to evaluate how organizations compete in the digital age through platforms, ecosystems, data, network effects and digital business models.
Session 5 – Digital Transformation I
Learning objective: Students will be able to understand the foundations of digital transformation and distinguish between digitization, digitalization and digital transformation.
Session 6 – Digital Transformation II
Learning objective: Students will be able to evaluate the organizational and managerial challenges of digital transformation, including strategy, capabilities, culture, leadership and governance.
Session 7 – LinkedIn Learning Course
Learning objective: Students will be able to extend and apply their knowledge through a LinkedIn Learning course, connecting course concepts with practical examples and contemporary digital practices.
Session 8 – Case Study Preparation
Learning objective: Students will be able to apply course concepts to analyze a real-world digital transformation case and identify key challenges, opportunities and organizational responses.
Session 9 – Final Case Study Presentation
Learning objective: Students will be able to present and defend a critical analysis of a digital transformation case, demonstrating their ability to apply Information Systems and digital transformation concepts to a real organizational context.

* ODD 8 (Travail décent et croissance économique) : Le cours aborde comment les SI soutiennent les objectifs stratégiques et opérationnels, favorisant ainsi la productivité et l'efficacité économique dans un paysage numérique en mutation.
* ODD 9 (Industrie, innovation et infrastructure) : En présentant les technologies digitales comme la "colonne vertébrale" des organisations, le cours traite directement de la modernisation des infrastructures organisationnelles par l'innovation technologique.
* ODD 12 (Consommation et production responsables) : L'étude du SI permet d'aborder la gestion optimisée de l'information pour une meilleure utilisation des ressources au sein de l'entreprise.

Professor-Student Communication
● The professor will contact the students through their school email address (IMT-BS/TSP) and the Moodle portal. No communication via personal email addresses will take place. It is the student responsibility to regularly check their IMT-BS/TSP mailbox.
● Students can communicate with the professor by emailing him/her to his institutional address. If necessary, it is possible to meet the professor in his office during office-hours or by appointment.
Students with accommodation needs
If a student has a disability that will prevent from completing the described work or require any kind of accommodation, he may inform the program director (with supporting documents) as soon as possible. Also, students are encouraged to discuss it with the professor.
Class behavior
● Out of courtesy for the professor and classmates, all mobile phones, electronic games or other devices that generate sound should be turned off during class.
● Students should avoid disruptive and disrespectful behavior such as: arriving late, leaving early, careless behavior (e.g. sleeping, reading a non-course material, using vulgar language, over-speaking, eating, drinking, etc.). A warning may be given on the first infraction of these rules. Repeated violators will be penalized and may face expulsion from the class and/or other disciplinary proceedings.
● The tolerated delay is 5 minutes. Attendance will be declared on Moodle during these 5 minutes via a QR code provided by the teacher at each course start.
● Student should arrive on time for exams and other assessments. No one will be allowed to enter the classroom once the first person has finished the exam and left the room. There is absolutely no exception to this rule. No student can continue to take an exam once the time is up. No student may leave the room during an examination unless he / she has finished and handed over all the documents.
● In the case of remote learning, the student must keep his camera on unless instructed otherwise by the professor.
Honor code
IMT-BS is committed to a policy of honesty in the academic community. Conduct that compromises this policy may result in academic and / or disciplinary sanctions. Students must refrain from cheating, lying, plagiarizing and stealing. This includes completing your own original work and giving credit to any other person whose ideas and printed materials (including those from the Internet) are paraphrased or quoted directly. Any student who violates or helps another student violate academic behavior standards will be penalized according to IMT-BS rules.
